Both the iPhone and iPad apps were designed to be simple and user friendly. It was important to keep it lightweight and snappy, and keep focus on content and readability while making it attractive and aligned with the Herald's brand.
Our first gig with the Herald, we spent some time going through the site and researched a dozen or so of the top iPhone news apps. Then we sat down with our friend Jesse Rusak (MindSea) with some ideas in hand, fleshed them out, and came up with some new stuff. We ended up with some rad sketches. Pretty much an iPhone app all ready, I’d say.
All wrapped up in a neat little package. The wireframes were a complete set of sections, layouts, detailed user interactions for each area, and even a couple version 2 ideas we couldn't resist to share. We pitched it to The Herald with Jesse and they we’re in and we talked about a bunch of possibilities for future iterations.
